What we adopted from HelloInterview

HelloInterview is useful as a practitioner-oriented teaching source. It is not used as the primary authority for technical claims in this book. We use its strongest ideas as a structure, then validate the underlying design guidance against standards, official documentation, or research.

Linear delivery frameworkRequirements -> entities/state -> interface -> HLD -> deep dives -> validation.
Start simple, then deepenBuild the smallest coherent design first. Add cache, queue, sharding, distributed coordination, etc. only for a proven requirement or risk.
Capacity math only when usefulFor design discussions, calculate numbers that affect a decision. For production, still perform formal capacity planning and validate with limits, monitoring, and tests.
Pattern recognitionUse patterns as prompts for known problems, not as mandatory ingredients.
Modern limits matterDo not memorize stale hardware numbers. Check current service quotas/limits and benchmark the actual workload.
